Small Business Crediting Institution

BESA Foundation started its activity since on may, 1999, based on Decision of Councils of ministers, no. 207 dated 28.04.1999 when the urban micro credit project move to “ BESA ” Foundation with “SOROS” Foundation as a founder.

The main donors of this Foundation are World Bank, Albanian Government, SOROS Foundation.

Today, “ BESA ” foundation operates on 17 offices and cover over 50 satellite cities around them on the urban and half urban areas of Albania.

The Main indexes of this Foundation till December, 2003 are:

• cumulative credit 16 800
• active credit 5 100
• Cumulative amount of issued credit 34,4 mln USD
• Credit portfolio 15, 2mln USD

Credit conditions

Interest rate 2% per month of principal remaining.

Credit amount up to 2 500 000 leks

Credit duration till 36 months.

Maximal duration for obtaining the credit is up to 10 days.

Aplication fee and the guarantee fund is 1-3% depending on the credit duration

Monthly returns

When the credit is used for investments, the client ought to invest at least 1/3 of the investment amount.
